The World Cup 2026 player list will cover every footballer named in a final squad for the tournament. FIFA rules allow each participating association to submit a final squad of 23 to 26 players, with at least three goalkeepers.
Current squad status
As of May 15, 2026, not every final World Cup 2026 squad has been published. Some countries have announced squads or provisional lists, but FIFA states that all squads remain provisional until the final lists are announced after submission by the participating teams.
How many player pages there will be
With 48 teams and final squads of 23 to 26 players, the full tournament will have between 1,104 and 1,248 player profiles. Each final-squad player should have a separate page with country, position, club, age, role, fantasy angle and tournament outlook.
What counts as a participating player
- The player must be named in the final World Cup 2026 squad.
- A provisional or preliminary-list player is not guaranteed to participate.
- A player can still be replaced for serious injury or illness before the team starts the tournament.
- Final player pages should be updated if FIFA confirms a replacement.
Player page coverage
Each player profile should answer the searches fans actually make: whether the player is in the squad, how old he is, what club he plays for, his likely role, fantasy value, award potential and whether he is expected to start.
